About Layman Editor
Layman Editor is an on-device PDF editor for people who want the file to stay on the phone.
It is built by VP Productions LLC. Core reading, editing, OCR, and conversion run on your device. We do not run a Layman document cloud, and we do not capture your files for an account.
You buy a license in the store listing for that app. You own that license under the store’s rules. This site does not list prices — each store listing shows its own offer when it is live.
Who it is for

People who open PDFs on a phone and want to read, mark up, and organize them without uploading the file to us.
Owner-operators who fill forms, merge pages, scan a sheet, or listen to a document on the device.
Anyone who wants a simple store license: buy in the listing, keep using the app you paid for.
NOT BUILT FOR
A Layman login, a Layman cloud, or a website that stores your PDFs.
A DocuSign replacement or a cryptographic legal e-sign product.
A data-collection product. We do not run ads, and we do not sell your documents.
Open a PDF, keep recent files, and switch tools without sending the document to a Layman server. Recents are a local list on the device — not a cloud library we host.
Reader Hub is for reading on the device. There is no Layman account to create and no first-party upload step. Open what you choose through Android’s file picker, including your own storage or your own cloud apps.
Narration uses Android system text-to-speech only — the voices already on the phone (Google, Samsung, or the OEM). There is no proprietary in-app voice model and no Layman speech cloud.
Pick a file you already have. Processing stays on the device. You are responsible for backups and for how you use the result.
What makes it different
On-device by default — PDFs are processed on the phone. We do not operate a first-party server that stores your documents.
You buy and you own — Licenses are sold in each app’s store listing. This site does not publish prices, because later apps will have their own listings.
Reading and editing stay available — You can read and edit in the app without a purchase. Saving, exporting, sharing, protecting, or printing a PDF file needs Premium, sold in the store — not on this site.
Optional Ask AI, off by default — If you turn AI on, you supply your own API key. Only a confirmed selection can leave the device — not the whole PDF by default.
Where the product is today
Android first. Layman Editor is the first app from VP Productions LLC. Later apps may share this Privacy and Terms site.
Signatures are visual stamps unlocked with biometrics or the device PIN. They are not cryptographic e-sign and are not a DocuSign replacement.
OCR, conversion, and form marks are best-effort. Proofread before you rely on a result. The app is not legal, tax, or compliance advice.
What we process — Documents you open, recents metadata, settings, and optional local stores (API keys, AI log, signature stamps). Core work runs on the device.
Where your files stay — There is no Layman document cloud. Open and save use Android’s Storage Access Framework — local storage or a cloud app you pick.
No account — Core editing does not need a Layman login. There is no account database for us to “delete on the website.”
Optional Ask AI — Off by default. If you enable it, only the staged selection can go to the provider you chose, after preview and confirm, using your key.
No sale, no ads — We do not sell your personal information and we do not run an advertising SDK.
Speech — Read-aloud and dictation use the operating system. The OS or vendor may use the network. That is not a Layman speech server.
Crash reporting — Firebase Crashlytics is off by default and is not shipped live unless we enable it later and update this page.
Your rights — Most data lives on the device. Uninstall, clear app storage, and clear AI log or keys in Settings. Email dpallcdeveloper@gmail.com for a request we can reasonably handle without a cloud account.
Complete Privacy Policy
Who we are — VP Productions LLC provides Layman Editor. Email dpallcdeveloper@gmail.com. We do not operate a Layman cloud that stores your PDFs.
What stays on the device — Documents, working copies, recents, settings, optional encrypted API keys, optional AI log, encrypted signature stamps, fonts or stickers you import.
What may leave the device — Ask AI: confirmed selection to the provider you chose, with your key. Google Play Billing: purchase tokens when you buy or restore. System dictation: OS/vendor speech. Share, browser, or your cloud apps: only what you send. Crashlytics: only if we later ship it on and update this Policy. Never PDF bytes, passwords, API keys, or signature images.
What we do not collect — No Layman user account. No first-party document sync. No ads tracking. No sale of personal information.
Optional location — Approximate location may be requested once to suggest an app language. Never required. Stamp city footnotes only if location is already granted.
Children — Not directed at children under 13, or under the digital age of consent in your country.
Retention — Your files stay where you stored them. Caches until you clear or uninstall. AI log follows your Off / Session / 7-day / 30-day setting.
Security — Android sandbox and Keystore-backed encryption for sensitive local stores. You are responsible for the device lock and backups.
Changes — We may update this Policy. Last updated will change.
